How to Seal a Hot Chocolate Ball

Step 11: Heat a flat bottom bowl or plate in the microwave for one minute, until the surface of the plate is warm to the touch.

Step 12: Press one of the empty chocolate bomb halves open-side-down onto the flat portion of the warm plate for about 10 seconds. This will gently melt the rim of the chocolate cup.

Step 13: Immediately press this warmed edge chocolate cup to the top of one of the filled cups. This will join the two halves of the hot cocoa bomb.

Step 14: You can use the tip of your finger to smooth the melted candy around the seam. You want to make sure it is completely sealed.

Step 15: Draw lines and drizzle the icing back and forth across the chocolate shell, on top of the bomb.

Step 16: Sprinkle the bomb with pink, white and red sprinkles. The icing will act as a glue for the sprinkles to stick to.

Valentine’s Hot Chocolate Bombs Recipe? ›

While you can technically use water instead of milk to melt the hot cocoa bombs, we do not recommend this as it may result in a less rich and flavorful hot chocolate. Do you use hot water or milk for hot chocolate bombs? ›

While you can technically use water instead of milk to melt the hot cocoa bombs, we do not recommend this as it may result in a less rich and flavorful hot chocolate. If you prefer a more diluted hot chocolate, however, feel free to experiment with different liquids and adjust the amount of bomb used accordingly.

What to use for hot chocolate bomb molds? ›

My favorite way to make hot chocolate bombs is to use a 3 part mold. These molds are made of PET, which is a food safe, BPA-free recyclable plastic. Each hole is filled and pressed to create an even piece of chocolate every time, which gives a consistent look for your finished chocolate bombs.

Can you use coffee instead of milk for hot chocolate bombs? ›

Simply place the hot chocolate bomb in a mug, just like you would with hot milk. Pour hot coffee over the bomb. As the coffee melts the chocolate shell, stir the mixture until the cocoa mix and any other fillings are fully dissolved and incorporated into the coffee.

Is hot chocolate nicer with milk or water? ›

Although hot chocolate doesn't necessarily need an even more creamy, decadent taste, using milk certainly enriches the experience. We suspect that milk adds a creamier taste than water alone, and when combined with the notes of chocolate, the smooth undertones of the milk simply add a delicious backdrop.

What is the best chocolate to use for hot chocolate bombs? ›

You can use either compound chocolate (candy coating chocolate) or real chocolate; I've used both with great results. The main difference between these two types is the presence of cocoa butter and cocoa solids.

How much should I sell hot chocolate bombs for? ›

So pulling it all together using this example, at a minimum you should charge $1.66 per cocoa bomb if you want to make any profit at all. Don't forget…the foundation of your price is your cost. So… make sure you get to the bottom of your cost before you set a price.

Do hot chocolate bombs need to be refrigerated? ›

Store at room temperature. To make hot chocolate, add a chocolate bomb into a mug. Slowly pour about 1½ cups of hot milk over the bombs and stir. Sip and enjoy!

Can you make a hot chocolate bomb without a mold? ›

Yes, but it depends on what look you're going for. No mold required. Trust me when I say I tried all the ways to make hot chocolate bombs without a mold (a plastic-wrapped egg, empty plastic Easter eggs, an orange) and paper cupcake liners are by far the easiest with the best results.

What is the best size for hot chocolate bomb molds? ›

Generally speaking, molds that are under 2.5” to 3” in diameter should work. Be sure to measure the opening of your cup so you'll know for certain. Shape: The classic sphere shape is probably the most well-known when it comes to hot chocolate bombs.

How do you keep hot chocolate bombs from cracking? ›

The reason your compound chocolate is cracking when you take it out of the mold is most likely because it's too thin. Try to make sure that you use enough chocolate that I indicate in the tutorial above and make sure it's definitely set by allowing the mold to rest in the fridge for at least 10 minutes.

Do you pour hot milk over cocoa bombs? ›

There's no right or wrong way to enjoy a hot cocoa bomb! You can either place the hot chocolate bomb in a mug and pour steaming hot milk over it or drop them into a mug of steaming hot milk. It will melt faster if you pour the milk over it, but you get to watch the melting process better when you drop it into the milk.

Can you put liquid in a hot cocoa bomb? ›

To drink your hot cocoa bomb

Place the completed hot cocoa bomb in a mug and pour 1.5 cups of hot milk or water over the hot cocoa bomb. You should see the 'bomb' effect of the marshmallows popping to the top after the chocolate melts! Stir well, then enjoy.

Can you use hot water and milk for hot chocolate? ›

All you need to make hot chocolate at home is cocoa powder, sugar, and milk or water. This combination is my absolute favorite, but I'll give you a few substitutions you can use to make this with what you have in your pantry right now!

Can you use hot chocolate powder with water? ›

Deliciously silky and sweet – just add hot water to four heaped teaspoons of our instant hot chocolate, give it a good stir and you're ready to feel all warm inside. Why not whip one up for a friend, too?
