Job Description
Missouri S&T is seeking a Senior Strategic CommunicationsConsultant to join our award-winning University Advancementdivision. This position helps lead the communication strategy andwill have responsibility in the following areas:
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and manage event communications including invitations,printed programs, event scripts, presentations and speeches forfundraising, donor recognition events and alumni celebrations
- Manage the conceptualization, design, content and production ofvarious publications and collateral
- Coordinate the development of effective fundraising materials,including key printed communications targeted to current andpotential donors (e.g., fundraising collateral, campaigncollateral, proposals, fundraising appeals, case statements,departmental profiles, and event invitations)
- Oversee and participate in writing and editing of newsreleases, publications, brochures, reports, correspondence, ads,invitations, programs, speeches, presentations and otherdocuments
- Utilize creative writing to craft compelling narratives andcontent for themed events, and storytelling skills to createengaging and expressive donor stories
- Collaborate and provide overall communications direction withother outreach units within the advancement division includingdonor relations/stewardship, annual giving, gift planning, alumnirelations, university-wide development and athletics
- Manage website content by designing and adding new web pages,modifying and updating existing web pages, maintaining currentlinks, and performing other duties related to web development andmaintenance
- Develop key electronic communications targeted to current andpotential donors (e.g., e-newsletters, website content specific todonors)
- Assist in identifying and sharing alumni and donor successstories and spotlights for print or digital communication
- Prepare and write departmental entries for CASE Circle ofExcellence Awards
The successful candidate will be required to have the followingknowledge, skills and abilities:
- Knowledge of marketing media
- Ability to manage and impart information to a range ofclientele and/or media sources
- Knowledge of marketing strategies, processes, and availableresources
- Excellent writing, proofreading, and editing skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlineseffectively
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite andknowledge of web content management systems
Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education andexperience and at least 4 years of experience from which comparableknowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary
Preferred Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in communications, English, journalism,marketing, business or a related discipline with a strong emphasisin written communication.
- Five to seven years of demonstrated success incommunications-focused fields related to journalism, marketing,fundraising, sales, public relations or similar areas.
- Experience working with higher education constituents such asdonors, alumni, friends, and corporations is desired, and thedemonstrated ability to multi-task and self-manage day-to-dayoperations.
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
- Communications experience related to a comprehensivefundraising campaign is a plus.
Anticipated Hiring Range
The anticipated hiring range for this position has been establishedas $58,960-$80,880 annually.
Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but notlimited to, the individual’s particular combination of education,skills, and experience, as well as organizationalrequirements.
