Clinton Fiscal Court votes on budgets, other issues

The most discussed issue pertained to the agreement of the Clinton County Sheriff’s Department and Clinton County Board of Education to provide SROs (School Resource Officers) in each school beginning in the upcoming school year.
(A separate article on the SRO agreement can be found elsewhere this week.)
After approving previous meeting minutes and acknowledging the treasurer’s report, they approved the monthly report on a motion by Magistrate Gary Ferguson and also approved payment of monthly claims and bills.
Three separate cash transfers were also approved, which included payroll for the end of this month. The transfers totaled $92,500, all from the Occupational Fund.
On a motion by Magistrate Jason Pitman, a transfer of $30,000 was approved to the jail

Law enforcement officers from the area continue to battle the local war on drugs, and criminal activity in general, which resulted in the following arrests last week:
Shelly L. Muse, 40, of Albany, Kentucky, was arrested April 15, 2024, by Albany Police Officer Parker Hickman.
Muse was charged with distribution of obscene

Judicial PDB meets

School Resource Officers will be in all schools in 2024-25

Trike-A-Thon nets more than $3,000 for St. Jude

Preschool students at Early Childhood Center spent most of the morning riding their trikes at Mountain View Park for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
Those students who participated raised $3,145 as a group, with William Grey raising $800, Walker Vitatoe with $600 and Elise Brewington finished third with $345.

Clinton man found dead in his home

A Clinton County man was found dead on April 9, 2024. Carlos Allan Neal, 76, lived on Bell Camp Road in Clinton County, was found dead at his residence.
According to Coroner Lonnie Scott, preliminary findings indicated Neal passed away of cardiac arrest.

Taylor indicted on arson, attempt to commit murder
