International applicants who currently hold a visa that permits enrollment, or have pending permanent residence status, may submit theApply TexasApplication for International Students. From theUHV homepage, choose the Apply link, then selectInternationalfrom the list on the left side of the page. This link will direct you to the International Student information page. Here you will find steps to the admission process listed, links to required admission forms, and related information in the left column under International Students.

When applicants submit the completed application, an email confirmation fromApply Texaswill be sent to the applicant stating that the application was submitted successfully. UHV’s Office of Admissionswill receive the application within 1 to 2 business days. The applicant will receive a myUHV student ID number by email. The applicant will then be able to log in and check their admission status through myUHV Self Service. Applicants may also be contactedby email to provide additional information needed for the admission process.

Applications for admission should be submitted as early as possible to ensure time for processing before registration. The completed application, with supporting documents, constitutes the basis upon which eligibility for admission is determined. All questions on theapplication must be answered fully. Admission is invalid if granted on the basis of incorrect information or omitted facts, which if known, would have caused the applicant to be ineligible.

A student must contact the Office of Admissionsif he/she does not enroll for the semester/term indicated on the original application.

If a student does not contact the Office of Admissions to update their term or enroll for their admitted term the student’s account will be deactivated. At that time the student will need to reapply through ApplyTexas and pay the $25 application fee.

Distance Education Out-of-State Authority

UHV participates in the State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (SARA), which regulates and provides protections for students enrolled in online courses and program while residing in participating states outside of Texas.

Students who wish to complete a full degree without relocating to Texas may contact their program advisor to determine whether all courses will be available online and whether there will be any short-term face-to-face requirements. Even in a fully online program, students may be required to attend short conferences, seminars, proctored exams, field trips, practic*ms, or internships. Students seeking a bachelor’s degree in an online program at UHV may need to complete some core curriculum or elective courses at another university and transfer the credits to UHV in order to complete all requirements.

UHV programs which typically lead to licensure (education, counseling, etc.) are designed to meet the licensing requirements in Texas and may not meet requirements in other states. Students who wish to seek professional licensure in other states should contact their academicadvisor or program director for help learning about their home state’s requirements.

Out-of-state students who wish to file a consumer complaint should follow the Complaint Resolution Process described in the Course Catalog or the UHV Student Handbook.

More information about the reciprocity agreements can be found on the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements website.
