Our media services at a glance

  • Learning Platform

On the Learning Platform, you will find all the up-to-date information and learning materials for your courses and lectures. You can access these documents and materials over the entire course of your studies. You can even call the Learning Platform your "digital memory."

When the semester starts, the platform is also where courses are assigned and groups are assigned. Above and beyond this, you can interact with your fellow students and the teaching staff, sign up for excursions or workshops and do much more.

  • Library catalog

myHSHL also gives you access to our library catalog. Here you can search in our extensive media collection, which includes ebooks, and access its ebooks from anywhere at any time after registering. Moreover, you have access to your user account and can bookmark or extend media, for example.

  • Study-Assist

The "Study-Assist" info platform at the ZfW bundles data on software, email or Wi-Fi instructions, library offerings, fact databases and much more. Moreover, it integrates a FAQ list that provides answers to the most important questions posed by students at HSHL.

  • Learning videos

Via myHSHL, you can access the more than 1000 eLearning courses offered by our cooperation partner lynda.com, featuring over 55,000 videos– all available free of charge. To supplement the factual contents of the degree programs, the training courses reflect a wide range of job-related skills, ranging from web design to a variety of software programs to mobile computing.

  • Software

When "Basic MS Office skills" just doesn't cut it – for engineers, the handling highly specialized software with confidence is an important requirement for successfully entry into their professional career. During your studies, we provide you with a constantly growing number of software programs without charging any licensing fees. These currently include programs such as Citavi, MATLAB, SolidWorks, Microsoft DreamSpark, Minitab, think-cell, APIS IQ, and many others. You can download them directly via Study-Assist.

  • Digital lecture hall

Is an important test coming up, but you can't attend the lecture because someone in your family is sick? Are you currently on an exchange semester, but would still like to listen to a lecture from the previous semester because you have to repeat the exam?

With its Digital Lecture Hall, the Center for Knowledge Management offers an eLearning option that lets you participate in courses and lectures no matter where you are and at a later time, if necessary. Each case needs to be supported and approved by your lecturers. Lecture halls equipped with suitable recording and presentation technology can make lectures available as recordings on the Learning Platform or enable you to follow them live from your own desk– the only prerequisite is an Internet connection. Using interactive tablet PCs, complete with a stylus and built-in microphone, even makes it possible to broadcast the events in the lecture hall to external lecture participants. This enables the participants to see what’s going in on the screen in real time and answers can be heard in the lecture hall.

Furthermore, the technology running the digital lecture hall can live stream events in other lecture halls, such as when a multi-degree program is being introduced at the beginning of a semester.

Our eServices at a glance

  • Student account

The Campus Office is your main point of contact for interaction and information throughout your entire studies. Outside of office hours, you can also conveniently view important information online, such as exam grades from home or on the go. This function is available in your student account, which you can find online in the Campus Office.

  • Inbox

Upon your enrollment, we set up your own personal email inbox that you can access via myHSHL or by email forwarding. All information relevant to your studies will be sent to this email address by the university team.

  • Data exchange

The data exchange in myHSHL works like a cloud. You can use it to save your data and access it online at any time no matter where you are.
