Marc Fogel's mother fighting for his freedom as US Senate passes resolution calling for release

FOUR ANCHOR MIKE CLARK. NOT ASKING FOR DELPHENE FOGLE. IT’S SIMPLE. SHE WANTS HER SON, MARK BACK HOME. YOU KNOW HE’S NOT A CRIMINAL. HE YOU KNOW, HE IS A DEDICATED TEACHER. HE WAS ALWAYS A GOOD SON, A GOOD HUSBAND, A WONDERFUL FATHER. AND, YOU KNOW, HE NEEDS TO COME HOME. FOGLE WAS ARRESTED AT A RUSSIAN AIRPORT. THE OAKMONT TEACHER FOUND, WITH LESS THAN AN OUNCE OF MEDICAL MARIJUANA IN HIS LUGGAGE, PRESCRIBED TO FIGHT CHRONIC BACK PAIN. HIS HEALTH IS NOT GOOD. HE. THEY ARE GIVING SOME MEDICATIONS, BUT THEY’RE MOSTLY LIKE TYLENOL OR ASPIRIN OR THAT SORT OF THING. I’M NOT SURE HOW MUCH THEY HELP, BUT I THINK IT TAKES THE EDGE OFF THE PAIN, DELPHENE SAYS. WHILE MARK’S HEALTH IS GETTING WORSE, NOTHING IS MORE PAINFUL THAN BEING SEPARATED FROM HIS FAMILY FOR 33 MONTHS, AND HE’S MISSED SO MUCH WITH HIS FAMILY. HIS YOUNGEST SON GRADUATED FROM COLLEGE. OF COURSE, HE DIDN’T SEE THAT THE BIRTHDAY AND WEDDING ANNIVERSARY AND, YOU KNOW, IT’S JUST REALLY, REALLY HARD, SHE SAID. THE FAMILY IS ENCOURAGED BY THE BIPARTISAN RESOLUTION SPONSORED BY PENNSYLVANIA SENATOR BOB CASEY. I’M PROUD THAT THE RESOLUTION PASSED THE SENATE JUST LAST NIGHT. SHE APPRECIATES THE SUPPORT FROM LEADERS, FROM BOTH PARTIES, ALL OF OUR LOCAL REPRESENTATIVES, THE SENATORS, AND THAT WOULD BE CASEY AND FETTERMAN AND MIKE KELLY AND DULUTH HAVE BEEN REALLY REMARKABLE PEOPLE WITH TRYING TO HELP US. I HAD A CARD FROM RUSSIAN THALER WHO SENT ME A CARD ON MOTHER’S DAY, AND EVERYBODY HAS BEEN SUPER. WHILE SHE’S HAPPY FOR OTHER AMERICAN PRISONERS RELEASED, SUCH AS BRITTNEY GRINER, SHE SAYS MARK HAS NOT BEEN TREATED AS AN EQUAL FELT UNFAIR FROM THE VERY BEGINNING. THEY JUST HAVE NOT BEEN VERY OPEN WITH US. WE’VE, AS I SAY, WE’VE NEVER HEARD FROM THE STATE DEPARTMENT DIRECTLY. SHE’S ALSO DISAPPOINTED IN PRESIDENT JOE BIDEN, WHO SHE FEELS COULD BE A DIFFERENCE MAKER IN DECLARING HER SON WRONGFULLY DETAINED. I’D JUST LIKE THE PRESIDENT TO GET HIS NAME OUT THERE. I DON’T THINK HE HAS EVER SAID HIS NAME. I DON’T EVEN KNOW IF HE KNOWS HE’S A PRISONER, BUT HE’S NEVER MENTIONED MARK AS HE HAS OTHERS. SHE HOPES THE U.S. HOUSE FOLLOWS THE SENATE’S LEAD AND KEEPS PUSHING FOR HER SON AS THE FAMILY PUSHES THROUGH THEIR SUFFERING. OF COURSE, IT’S PAINFUL, BUT YOU HAVE TO HAVE HOPE, YOU KNOW? I JUST HOPE BY SOME MIRACLE THAT THAT THEY’RE GOING TO RELEASE HIM. AND THAT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING. MIKE CLARK, PITTSBURGH’S ACTION NEWS FOUR.
